Mkay guys, that last prompt drained all the cute right out of me, but be prepared there will be more Talex adorable-ness throughout the week. I promise!
Anonymous asked: Can u write something sooo Adorably cute that I want to die? like massively cute?
(I tried. Did I succeed?)
Tobin bounces on her heels and clutches at the box in her pocket. Down the hall, Alex scrolls aimlessly through twitter and ignores the weight of the box resting in her lap. Her phone vibrates and a message scrolls across the top
Tobin: Wanna go for a walk?
Alex swallows, looking at the box holding the ring and wondering if she should bring it with. What the hell she muses better to have it and not propose then to have the perfect moment and not the ring.
Alex: Sure, meet outside the elevators in five?
Tobin replies right away
Five minutes later they’re both walking to the elevator with rings in their pockets. Tobin, who is a few seconds later than Alex, takes a flying jump and lands on Alex’s back, pressing a kiss to her temple “Hey.” she grins.
"You’re awfully happy." Alex smile, adjusting Tobin on her back and stabbing the elevator button with her other hand.
"I get to see you." Tobin replies "What’s not to be happy about?"
"Good point." Alex notes.
Tobin jumps down from Alex’s back and as the elevator door opens she pushes Alex inside and against the wall “Public.” Alex whispers, as the doors slide shut.
"Private." Tobin replies and kisses Alex all the way down.
The doors slide open and they’re hand in hand, as if they weren’t just making out against the wall.
Once outside, the noise of the city around them, Tobin wonders if she’ll know the moment when she’s supposed to get down on one knee and propose. Hopefully there’s some sort of sign.
And it’s Alex getting down on one knee.
They’re in a park, overlooking the curve of a river and music from a restaurant drifts their way. Alex herself wasn’t aware of what she was doing until she was doing it, the box in one hand, looking up at Tobin, who was grinning “Imma let you finish but-” she says, looking at the box in Alex’s hand and then pulling out her own.
Alex bursts out laughing.
They both have rings, meant for the purposes of proposal. They both brought them. They both we’re ready to use them.
"I didn’t have any sort of plan about what I was going to say, but I think, this," she looks at Tobin, at the boxes "I mean…I love you Tobin. I love every part of you, even the ones I don’t know yet. And I want to spend the rest of my life with you."
Tobin’s eyes are shining.
Tobin nods, and Alex slips the ring on her finger, standing and pulling Tobin into a kiss.
They break for a moment and Tobin grins “You kind of stole my thunder here.”
Alex laughs “Well, I’m not sorry.”
"Alex," Tobin says, and they’re standing inches apart and Tobin can see Alex’s eyes widen, even though it’s no longer a surprise, can see the radiant joy that shines in her eyes, and in the very way she holds herself "I’m so in love with you." she says "I don’t have enough words to describe it. And I want to spend the rest of my life trying to tell them to you all. Just, marry me?"
Alex nods, shivers cascading down her spine as she feels the cool silver slipping onto her finger.
It’s all her dreams come true at once and more than she’d ever imagined. Tobin on the other hand just stares at her ring, amazed, at how well it fits, how wonderful it looks, how (even though she never thought she’d like wearing a ring) this ring is the exception.
"Everyone is going to think we planned this." Tobin finally says.
"Oh god, I know." Alex agrees "And we’re not going to be able to convince them otherwise."
"Agreed." Tobin says "Should we just wait to see how long it takes them to notice?"
Alex laughs, turning to look at Tobin “Sure, who do you think will notice first?”
"Kelley." Tobin says at once.
They round the corner back to the hotel and just before they step inside, Alex says “We’re engaged.” Like she still can’t quite believe it.
"I know." Tobin replies "I’m not even sure if this is real."
Alex squeezes her hand “100% real.”
"Love you." Tobin says
"I love you back." Alex replies.
Anonymous asked: talex feels their baby kick for the first time
Tobin almost doesn’t notice it, the movement is so subtle, so short…but then again it’s their baby and like hell she’d miss their baby kick for the first time. She all but yanks Alex away from the coffee pot she’s so fervently walking towards and places her wife’s hand on her stomach “Feel it?”
Alex, barely conscious at this point just stares at her hand, to the coffee pot and wonders why the two aren’t yet connected. Then she feels it, a tiny flutter and her eyes widen “Holy-was that?”
Tobin nods “Yup.” she’s grinning from ear to ear.
Alex leans back against the table, coffee forgotten as she marvels at the simple joy in feeling their baby kick for the first time. Almost as good as Tobin saying yes to marry her. Almost. But not quite.

Anonymous asked: Alex is scared of the dark and Tobin comforts her
Alex realized her nightlight is still plugged into the wall of her apartments bedroom just as the team is boarding the plane. She’d cursed, sighs and knows she’ll have the slink off and by one somewhere once they land. Except she didn’t have time, post-landing was a whirlwind of finding luggage, getting on a bus, getting to the hotel, having a shake-out run, dinner, a team meeting that lasted an eon and before Alex’s knows curfew is here and she’s still without a nightlight.
She sits on the edge of her bed fiddling with her phone settings wondering how high her brightness can go without nulling the effects of charging her phone in the first place. Not high enough she determines.
So she sets her phone down next to the alarm clock, it’s digital face her only source of light. She shouldn’t be this scared, she’s twenty four for crying out loud, but logic will never win against a fear this deep. Alex knows this, and as the shadows start to lengthen and twist, she knows the night will be a long one.
A hand rests on her shoulder and Alex jumps, hard, “Shit.” Tobin says, sitting down next to Alex, letting her hand slide down Alex’s back to wrap around her waist “Sorry.”
Alex shakes her head “It’s fine.”
"But you’re not." Tobin says, it’s never a question with Tobin, she reads Alex like a book "What’s up?"
"I’m-" Alex starts, but the words afraid of the dark do not slip so easily from her lips. She stalls, a hundred words riding her tongue and none of them the right ones.
With her other hand, Tobin takes Alex’s in her own, kissing her knuckles “S’okay.” she says, and slowly pulls Alex towards the head of the bed.
Alex follows, letting Tobin work them both under the covers, lets Tobin (for once) be the big spoon. And having Tobin there helps, reminds her she’s not alone in the dark, that with Tobin her fears are sated “We’ll get one tomorrow.” Tobin whispers, her chin resting on the curve of Alex’s shoulder.
"One what?" Alex asks, like she has no clue.
Tobin laughs softly “A plug-in light thing for the wall.” she says, deftly avoiding the use of nightlight.
Alex feels the last of her tension dissolve and she relaxes totally into Tobin’s arms “I don’t need one,” she says, lying.
"Who said it’s for you?" Tobin replies "Don’t you know I’m terrified of the dark."
Alex laughs, the says “I love you.”
Tobin hums, a resonating sound that reverberates deep in her throat “Love you too.”
